To Our Dear SOAR! Friends,

We hope that this letter finds you safe, healthy and well in these difficult and, uncertain times.

The past few months have been like no other in our lifetime, with a host of "COVID challenges" presented. The forecasts for late Summer and Fall look somewhat better, however, we will continue to face ongoing uncertainty throughout 2020 and beyond.

As you might also be aware, there have been significant operational and funding changes at the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities that impact how organizations like SOAR! provide services. The business model that we have used since 2005 is simply no longer a viable way to deliver recreational activities and events.

These changes, coupled with the major impact of COVID-19 have added to the vulnerability of SOAR!... our participants, caregivers, families, staff and HUNDREDS of friends! Simply stated it is jut not possible to continue providing recreational services in a way that keeps everyone safe. And, that has always been our number one priority!

It is for these reasons that after a great deal of thought, reflection and soul searching I have made the decision to cancel all future SOAR! scheduling and close our operations, effective July 31st.

Speaking for myself, our WONDERFUL SOAR! Staff; (Maureen Schroeck, Barb & Jim Foos, Aurora & Bill Flickinger, Mark Miller, Sue Duffy and Bob Crowley), instructors (Angie Siciliano & Mary Lou Smith), DJ (Tom Verga), caterer (Jae Jokubaitis & friends) and the many others that have contributed to SOAR!.... we have had a tremendous time with each of you. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives for the past 15-1/2 years!  It has been our pleasure!

We will continue to maintain an office and answer any questions you may have thru the end of November.

Thank you and STAY SAFE!

Sincerely,

Scott Montgomery
Executive Director
